Rhythm Witch: Beat Death GUIDE

To The Rhythm-Challenged Me…
I apologize if some parts feel unnatural, as I am translating from Japanese.
This is a guide for Rhythm Witch: Beat Death. Overall, I didn’t find it particularly difficult. I believe it’s possible to unlock all the achievements just by playing normally and gradually acquiring permanent upgrades.
The game is developed by Dusklight Games, which appears to be a game company based in Taiwan.
For now, I’ve put together a summary of the things that caught my attention.
Strategy Guide – Part 1
Which Play Mode Is The Best?
Personally, I definitely prefer Auto Mode. At first, I enjoyed playing while tapping to the rhythm, but it was hard to keep track of everything around me, and I started getting tired over time, so I switched.
That said, playing in Auto Mode does take away a lot of what makes this game unique.
Interestingly, some people say that following the rhythm actually makes the game easier… seriously?
Recommended Characters
My personal recommended character is Emerald Shadow, but if you’re just aiming to clear the game, Beast Master is more than enough. He reflects damage back with a shockwave when hit, so if you invest in defense, you can fight quite comfortably.
Once you defeat three or more Minotaurs, you can enhance the Shield Impact ability through Meditate, so I think it’s better to unlock that first before focusing elsewhere.

If you strengthen Shield Impact and stack shield icons, you can defeat enemies just with counters. Many equipment items that increase shield icons also boost defense, so they work well together for leveling up. By the way, the weapon choice doesn’t have to be precise, but since there are special moves like Vortex, it’s good to play as a melee class.
Having Frenzy-related abilities from Rune IV helps with stability. They extend time, absorb HP, and are very powerful, so be sure to develop them steadily.
Because of random elements and depending on the Shield Impact upgrade level, bosses generally start getting tougher around stage 7. If you’re just aiming to clear, it’s okay if you can’t defeat them right away — just keep progressing to unlock items and such.
A Specific Boss Does Not Appear
Sometimes, I encountered a situation where a specific boss appeared on my first clear but didn’t show up on the second attempt. I believe this issue can be resolved by checking the “Boss Raid” option.
If you’re having trouble getting the boss to appear, give it a try.
Strategy Guide – Part 2
On the May 18 update, Hell Mode was divided into three levels. The highest difficulty corresponds to level 3.
Hell Mode: Best Characters & Weapons
Here comes Emerald Shadow. She has the ability to add homing capabilities to her projectiles, which turned out to be quite powerful.
For weapons, I used two Burning Arrows, Fireball, and Guardian Flame. Burning Arrow is the main one, but by making the other two fire-type as well, you can benefit from elemental synergy.
Once Burning Arrow reaches its final evolution, it becomes a 3-way shot. Combined with the homing effect, all three projectiles can track and hit the boss, resulting in massive damage output.
If possible, make sure to unlock Power of Flame. It adds a random element, but once unlocked, you can boost your firepower through Meditate, making it extremely powerful.
To unlock Power of Flame, you need to deal 150 or more damage in a single attack. This can be easily achieved by using the magic skill Arcana Strike at its maximum level (though you’ll also need to have your magic stat upgraded to some extent).

Just getting one Power of Flame makes a huge difference in firepower.
Equipment Focuses Mainly on Fire Attributes
The fire icon works really well with equipment that boosts useful abilities.
- Burning Wings
- Speed+7%
- Blast Tome
- ATK Radius+10%
- Frenzy Clock
- Frenzy+2s
Focusing solely on attack makes you vulnerable to dragons and similar enemies, so be sure to allocate some points to HP and defense for balance.
Although you can probably clear the game by heavily focusing on Shield Impact with Beast Master, you’ll often run into issues with insufficient firepower even if you don’t get knocked down. If you’re struggling, try playing as Emerald Shadow instead.
